Electric Utility Switches On Imaging
August 19, 2003
The Lanehart Electric Companies (www.lanehart.com), Houston, TX, are processing thousands of electrical installations each year with the help of document imaging software from Laserfiche (www.laserfiche.com), a division of Compulink, Long Beach, CA.
Lanehart depends on Raythom Management Company, Irving, TX, to complete invoices for installation construction jobs. Raythom was transporting boxes stuffed with documentation to and from Lanehart's eight satellite offices using express mail. This approach drove up Lanehart's operational costs considerably.
Using the LaserFiche software, workers at Lanehart locations now scan billing documents into the system and communicate with Raythom over a virtual private network. The LaserFiche system links the offices through a Citrix-based network that connects branches as far as 1,200 miles away to the Raythom server in Irving, TX. Parties at both ends spend less time shipping and searching and more time getting work done.
