Customized Portal Cures Healthcare Challenges

Catholic hospital group Caritas Christi Healthcare Systems (www.caritaschristi.org), Brighton, MA, has begun measuring and improving medical care with the help of a customized portal from Conchango (www.conchango.com), London.

As part of the Caritas implementation, Conchango has deployed Microsoft's SharePoint Portal Server and a SQL database to collect data and report on the quality of health services, known as "clinical indicators," and to publish general announcements across the enterprise.

Caritas says it can now align internal communications and measure industry performance metrics, such as HR data, which are critical to the running of the individual hospitals. For example, nurses are in high demand, and Caritas can now efficiently track internal employee activity such as training for staffing purposes.
