A General Suite Tackles a Range of Compliance Needs
August 12, 2003
Taking a broad approach to myriad regulatory, legislative and corporate governance issues, Colorado Springs, CO-based Optika (www.optika.com) has introduced the Acorde Compliance Suite. While other technology vendors have focused solutions for specific compliance challenges, Optika says its solution helps address a range of compliance challenges including the Sarbanes-Oxley Act, HIPAA and the Patriot Act.
The Acorde Compliance Suite addresses compliance and control activities at several levels. Depending on their needs, customers can choose between Acorde Records Management Standard Edition or Enterprise Edition. The Standard Edition identifies, classifies, tracks and manages physical information, such as paper records and microfilm, from inception through the end of the document or record lifecycle. Acorde Records Management Enterprise Edition addresses electronic file, email and physical record retention and lifecycle management. Records management functionality is integrated with the Acorde Context repository for image and content management and is compliant with DoD 5015.2 and FDA CFR 21, Part 11 regulations.
The Compliance Suite also incorporates Acorde Internal Control, a workflow-based system designed to handle closed-loop management of policies and procedures, including creating appropriate communication flows, feedback mechanisms, remediation, escalation processes and audit trails. Optika says Acorde Internal Control can be used to operationalize and automate the compliance and control requirements stipulated in the U.S. Sarbanes-Oxley Act for public company accounting reform and investor protection.
Also a part of the Compliance Suite is the Acorde ERP Application Link, which integrates business applications such as PeopleSoft, J.D. Edwards, Microsoft Business Solutions and Oracle. The link lets users incorporate financial, human resource and supply chain data in a compliance environment.
Optika's proven records management technology, recently acquired from Boise, ID-based Select Technologies, has more than 65 customers including J.R. Simplot, Weyerhaeuser Company, Liberty Mutual Insurance and Bayer Pharmaceutical.
