Workflow and Collaboration Drive Sarbanes-Oxley Solution
August 12, 2003
Addressing both business process and records management issues related to compliance, Eden Prairie, MN-based Stellent (www.stellent.com) has introduced the Stellent Sarbanes-Oxley Solution. Built on the Stellent Content Management architecture, the Sarbanes-Oxley Solution is said to help companies efficiently manage and approve content related to financial and non-financial disclosures as well as Section 404 compliance.
The solution is designed to address the identification and documentation of key processes and controls as required by the Sarbanes-Oxley Act. It also automates testing processes, and lets all of the various parties involved in the compliance process to securely create, manage, share, track, approve and archive information pertaining to disclosures and financial reporting.
The browser-based solution automates documentation collection and process testing with pre-defined workflow templates. For example, a workflow template may be designed to route documentation from an organization's accountant to its in-house legal counsel, then to its CFO and finally to an auditor for review and approval. Secure ad-hoc project support capabilities facilitate collaborative efforts such as annual financial reporting projects involving internal and external users. Audit trails track content creation, project workflows and access, and can also be used to support testing.
The Stellent Sarbanes-Oxley Solution incorporates personalized interfaces including a dashboard-style, top-level compliance view for CFOs, an internal auditors' view identifying key processes and controls, and a streamlined view for business users supporting documentation and testing duties. Digital rights management features let users place stamps or watermarks on critical documents, while records management features preserve both content and projects, with disposition rules that can be set for content items or content types.
To support customers in managing their Sarbanes-Oxley requirements, Stellent says it is collaborating with Protiviti (www.protiviti.com), an international internal audit and business and technology risk consulting firm based in Menlo Park, CA. Protiviti guides companies on corporate governance issues and Sarbanes-Oxley compliance.
