Danish Government Secures Its Portal

The Danish government has reached an agreement with EuroTrust, a provider of PKI-infrastructure services (www.eurotrust.dk) and IBM Denmark (www.ibm.com/dk) to supply up to 300,000 digital certificates from VeriSign (www.verisign.com) to the Danish Erhvervsportalen e-government portal project. Erhvervsportalen is a collaborative project spearheaded by numerous public authorities to help Danish enterprises reduce the administrative burden of supplying information on issues such as taxes and accounting. The portal's mission is to provide easy access to relevant information and one common entrance to the large number of online electronic services, thereby removing bureaucratic borders between authorities.

The recent alliance between IBM Denmark and EuroTrust is the result of a broad technology, services and marketing agreement between IBM and VeriSign. The alliance between EuroTrust and IBM is expected to spawn similar agreements for large-scale governmental projects.
