ERM for Customer Service
Avi Greenfield,Richard Medina and Joe Fenner, Doculabs
While customer relationship management systems do many things well, there's one thing most systems lack:
the ability to manage and present customer-facing documents such as bills, statements, invoices and correspondence.
Enterprise report management systems fill this void, enabling service reps, partners and customers to view
critical documents via the Web. As an added bonus, ERM systems can automatically distribute reports to
internal and external users, and files can be archived in compliance with regulatory requirements.

Life's Too Short for Bad Web Printouts
Bruce Silver
If there's anything that proves Web content tool vendors still don't "get" documents, it's the sorry state of Web
printing. More often than not, when you try to print a Web page, the last word on each line sometimes
a whole inch or two is cut off on the right margin. One rule available in cascading style sheets can make
Web pages printable, but this feature is not typically used. It's time someone found a solution.

Mind Mapping Goes Enterprisewide
Lowell Rapaport
Mind mapping is a technique in which you graphically sketch out thought processes on the theory that
it is easier to understand relationships when they're presented visually. Most software to date has been
designed for the desktop, but vendors are now bringing the power of mind mapping to the enterprise.
These systems let users collaborate in developing maps that can then be used to link to content and
plan projects.

New Models Redefine Low-End Scanning
After a period of relatively few introductions, the departmental scanner market has seen four new models
in a matter of months. Best of all, low prices, color support and big-league features such as double-feed
detection and color dropout are bringing unprecedented value to entry-level and distributed scanning.
