Intranet 'Unites' California Water District

The Alameda Water District, which supplies drinking water to the 318,000 residents of Fremont, Newark and Union City, CA, is uniting its more than 200 employees with the aid of an intranet managed by VIP Enterprise content management software from Gauss (www.gaussvip.com), Irvine, CA.

The water district was already using a Gauss document management system to manage HR policies, notices, current events newsletters and forms. By extending the system with the VIP ContentManager module and an intranet site, this content will be accessible in a distributed, yet secure manner online. HR personnel will be able to publish memos and notices without IT intervention, and technical engineers at the organization's three offices will be able to access reports and technical manuals. The intranet will also link to Lotus Notes calendars and scheduling software.
