Count E-Gov. Initiative Opens Content Access

To meet the growing demand for 24-hour access to government services, Scott County, MN, has expanded its e-government initiative by deploying the Content Management system from Stellent (www.stellent.com).

With Content Management from Eden Prairie, MN-based Stellent driving the county's public Internet site, Scott County employees are now able to contribute content to Stellent Content Server through ordinary Web browsers. Word processing documents, spreadsheets, graphics and other popular file types can be saved to the system in their native formats, enabling easy updates. Once submitted, Stellent's technology automatically converts content from its native format to Web formats such as HTML, XML, PDF or WML.

Residents visiting the site can access land records and the county's geographical information system; view election results as they happen; see property tax information and ordinances; and apply online for jobs with the county. Users can also request e-mail notifications when information such as changes in county zoning laws and ordinances are updated on the site.

Stellent Content Server will also drive Scott County's intranet. By publishing most of its administrative information on the intranet site, Scott County's more than 600 employees can access up-to-date policies and procedures and important documents.
