Stellent Upgrade Moves Beyond Intranets
Collaboration, aggregation, distribution and J2EE support are among the highlights of Stellent
Content Management 6.0. The upgrade from Eden Prairie, MN-based Stellent
(www.stellent.com) has also
enhanced the content contribution capabilities of the enterprise software.
Stellent's new Collaboration Server facilitates collaborative content creation and management by
letting users define and maintain project teams without assistance from IT. Working from either
inside or outside the firewall, team members can create a digital workspace in which they
collaboratively create, edit and update content through Web browsers. The server supports workflows
and threaded discussions, and it automatically notifies team members via e-mail when new content is
available.
A Connection Server now available with Version 6.0 provides content integration and distribution
capabilities that let customers aggregate content from multiple repositories, manage it in the
Stellent environment and distribute it to any audience. Connection Server can deploy content from
staging environments to production environments and roll back to earlier versions of Web sites.
Stellent's new Extrasite Server is designed for high-volume environments. It resides on a J2EE
application server, providing enterprise scalability, clustering, multithreading, fail-over and
load-balancing.
Version 6.0 enhancements to Stellent's WebDAV server let users contribute and access content from
standard desktop applications such as Windows Explorer. Nontechnical business users can now
drag-and-drop content from Windows folders into the Stellent Content Management system.
Version 6.0 is priced at $100,000 to $250,000. The new servers are optional modules starting at
$50,000 for the Collaboration Server and $30,000 per CPU for the Connection and Extrasite servers.
