OpenText Offers Methods and Spaces for Team Collaboration

Open Text (www.opentext.com), Waterloo, Ontario, has unveiled Livelink virtualteams, a team-building environment built on Livelink content management and collaboration software. The software enforces methods and specific processes for launching a team; involving team members; setting milestones; defining and refining a mission and goals; establishing working relationships; and defining communications and types of media to be used for the team process. A "team room" acts as a container for all relevant team-related objects, providing a way to organize the team and create a "sense of space" related to the team and its shared work.

OpenText says the virtualteams methods are most useful when interaction between team members is essential to a project, when group decision-making is required, when team members are geographically dispersed, and when the focus is oriented toward the team members and their roles in achieving the goals of the team.
