Divine Upgrades Acquired Web Content Systems
Chicago-based divine (www.divine.com) has
upgraded and rereleased two content management products
the company bought last year: the former Open Market Content Server is now divine's Content Server
4.0 and what used to be Eprise Participant Server is now divine Participant Server 4.0. Both
products have been upgraded to promote ease-of-use. For example, both now integrate with Microsoft
Word so that content can be created and formatted in this popular desktop application.
Content Server 4.0 is an enterprise-oriented, J2EE-based content management system. The Content
Server Desktop lets users create content in Microsoft Word, dictate the structure of the document
and have content automatically formatted for appropriate display in Web, wireless and XML formats.
Content Server InSite Editor allows nontechnical editors to edit content as they browse a site and
have those changes take effect everywhere that content is used. Power-user enhancements enable
frequent contributors to create saved searches for common queries, have one-click access to common
content management tasks and track content use during an editing session or across multiple
sessions.
Participant Server 4.0 is aimed at small- to mid-size sites and rapid deployment in
Microsoft-centric environments. The 4.0 upgrade features integrations with Microsoft Word and
Macromedia DreamWeaver. The latter integration is intended to give Web designers more control over
the look and feel of a Web site, letting them implement template changes and use the design features
in DreamWeaver. PowerCode Elements are said to allow Web developers to build reusable programming
components in VBScript or Java that integrate with legacy and Web applications.
