California County Unites Constituent Services

Nevada County, CA, is uniting more than 30 agencies and departments online with the help of e-work, a Web-based process management system from Severna Park, MD-based Metastorm (www.metastorm.com).

Enabled by e-work, the 92,000 residents of Nevada County will be able to submit inquiries and report local problems via the Web. This content will be electronically routed to the appropriate county department for response and resolution. Internal administrative processes such as payroll and human resources will also be automated under the new system.

In just one HR example, time sheet forms used by all county employees will be converted to digital form. The county currently processes 35,000 three-part forms by hand each year. Nevada County also hopes to eliminate lost or delayed work orders that must move within and between various county departments and agencies.
