Content Tagger Offers 'Sage' Advice
"Training" a taxonomy tool to recognize what content belongs under which categories often requires
the user to feed the software 50 or more documents per category until it can recognize
distinguishing characteristics. To eliminate this training step, Sageware
(www.sageware.com),
Mountain View, CA, is shipping its Content Tagger 1.5 with predefined categories.
Sageware has developed an inventory of tens of thousands of predefined categories, including sets
specific to pharmaceuticals, financial services, manufacturers and publishers. Purchasers of Content
Tagger 1.5 will provide Sageware with their existing subject lists and Sageware will return matching
category sets from its inventory.
Also new in version 1.5 is an integration module that lets the Tagger work directly with the
Vignette, Documentum and FileNet workflow processes. As a customer checks a document into one of
these content/document management systems, the software will automatically tag the content and
provide the user with a screen that allows them to approve or modify before saving to the
repository.
