Authentica Protects Enterprise and Desktop Assets
To simplify administration and deployment of digital rights, Authentica
(www.authentica.com),
Waltham, MA, has upgraded its Policy Server software to leverage existing enterprise directories and
Microsoft applications.
Like previous generations of the software, Policy Server Enterprise Edition 3.0 lets organizations
create and manage information policies that protect against the unauthorized use and distribution of
sensitive information in email, documents and Web content, both during and after delivery.
Information policies control the content expiration date, recipient printing privileges and
forwarding rights. Policies can be changed at any time, even after content has been delivered and
accessed by recipients.
New features in version 3.0 include support for Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) and
Microsoft SQL Server; content retention policy management, which lets organizations automate and
enforce retention policies for protected email messages and documents; watermarks that show the user
name, date and time the document was printed, and the IP address of the client computer. Also added
were a virtual meter that can restrict the number of copies a recipient can print, an API that
allows information policies to be controlled by external customer applications, and integrated Web
reporting tools that let administrators observe trends across an enterprise. For example, reports
can identify the most active users in an organization or most frequently accessed documents.
Authentica Policy Server 3.0 pricing starts at $32,500 and is based on concurrent users and server
configuration.
