Portal Empowers Houston School District

The Houston Independent School District, the largest public school system in Texas, has selected Vignette V6, Content Extensions and the Vignette Enterprise Application Portal (VEAP), all from Vignette (www.vignette.com), Austin, TX, to power the district's employee intranet as well as Internet sites for the district's more than 300 campuses.

With more than 31,000 employees and 200,000 students, the district wanted to improve communications with all of its constituents. The district plans to streamline its current processes via one central portal, enabling district employees to access personalized content including payroll information, promotion opportunities and timecards. Content owners will also be able to update campus-specific sites without HTML coding or complicated programming.

Vignette V6 will enable the development of Web sites, increased personalization and tight integration with other e-business applications, while VEAP will offer centralized control with decentralized maintenance of campus content.
