Service Bureau Supports Distributed Processes
Data Services Direct (DSD), a service bureau specializing in data capture and database services,
is using FormWare from Captiva (www.captiva.com),
San Diego, CA, to extend its services by utilizing
more than 250 in-office and remote production workers in both paper and image-based environments.
DSD is headquartered in Parsippany, NJ, but has production-level processing centers in Woods Cross,
UT, and Baja California, Mexico. The company processes an average of 2.5 million forms and documents
per month. Typical data conversion programs include credit card applications, warranty
registrations, direct mail order processing, medical claim forms, returned mail processing,
circulation fulfillment and surveys.
Whether documents are scanned by the customer, by DSD at the customer's site or at a DSD
facility, FormWare's distributed scanning architecture will allow images to be delivered and tracked
through a processing workflow. Reports and statistics will enable DSD to monitor productivity. Once
images are received at DSD's data center, production workers in any location can perform quality
control and edits by checking their work online through FormWare's Internet FormWare Server. DSD can
monitor this activity to ensure accuracy before returning data to customers.
