Sybase Upgrades App Server-Based Portal

Sybase (www.sybase.com), Emeryville, CA, has brought improved security features, integration tools and a federated search engine licensed from Autonomy to version 2.5 of its Sybase Enterprise Portal.

Among the new security features are email alerts for security violations, support for digital certificates, public key integration, end-to-end encryption throughout the portal and forced delay between login attempts. Mutual exclusion of roles prevents a single person from logging into the portal with multiple job descriptions, each with a different level of security access.

Sybase also announced new integration modules that allow Sybase Enterprise Portal to seamlessly integrate with ERP and CRM software from Peoplesoft, SAP and Siebold. The software is set to ship in the first quarter of 2002 with pricing starting at $85,000.
