Communique Takes Unified Approach to Content

Communique Unify, a new product from Newport Beach, CA-based Day Software (www.day.com), is a content management system said to bring together all digital objects in the enterprise. Communique Unify uses what the company calls a "content bus" to integrate with any and all content-bearing applications, including financial software, file systems, databases, middleware, EAI tools, custom applications and legacy business systems.

Day says the idea behind its software is to integrate content resources rather than the applications. With this approach, users gain access to all enterprise content rather than a single point of access to the enterprise applications. Day contends that content-oriented integration makes it easier to reuse content within different applications.

Communique Unify is written in Java, utilizes Java Server Pages (JSP) and JDBC database compatibility, and provides content services such as versioning, indexing, full-text search, access control, filtering and encryption. The system publishes content to applications as HTML, PDF, RTF or wireless formats.
