Museum Indexes, Stores Old TV Shows

The Museum of Television & Radio has selected Screening Room from Convera (www.convera.com), Vienna, VA, to digitally capture, index and manage historical audio and video content.

The Museum has a collection of more than 100,000 television and radio programs and advertisements covering the more than seventy-five-year history of television and radio broadcasting. The Museum wants to make this entire collection (as well as its videotaped educational seminars) available online, expanding its audience beyond its New York and Los Angeles museum branches.

The Screening Room technology will allow users logging on to the Museum's Web site to search video archives using key word or concept-based searches. The Museum will begin this long-range initiative by making 200 seminars available on its Web site, including conversations with Steve Allen, Lucille Ball, Dick Van Dyke and many others.
