Drug Developer Consolidates Test Data

Covance, a pharmaceutical company headquartered in Princeton, NJ, is implementing the Enterprise Portal from Sybase (www.sybase.com), Emeryville, CA, to provide its researchers with secure access to clinical trial data and trial management information.

An average of 200 separate trials are in process at any given time within Covance's Clinical Development group. Data comes in from multiple sources, including Lotus Notes, Oracle and Sybase databases and such unstructured data sources as Excel and Word. The Sybase portal is expected to consolidate information from all these sources into a single, browser-based point of access for Covance's more than 7,200 employees in 17 countries.
