Data Junction Aids HIPAA Compliance

Data Junction (www.datajunction.com) of Austin, TX, has bolstered support for the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) with native EDI support and a Document Schema Designer. HIPAA regulations, mandated by Congress and the Department of Health and Human Services, are designed to simplify the complex process of administering and paying healthcare claims. The law mandates a single transaction standard based on an ANSI standard. Data Junction's software helps healthcare clients comply by providing a code-free, visual interface for mapping data between proprietary internal formats and valid HIPAA transactions.

With the newly developed EDI support, the Data Junction software allows bidirectional data transformation between healthcare management systems (such as practice management systems and electronic medical records) and HIPAA transactions. Data Junction has also developed a Document Schema Designer for defining EDI subsets from ANSI standards. These compliant schemas define all 12 HIPAA-mandated transaction sets. Data Junction says its software supports more than 140 legacy applications and data formats as well as a variety of messaging transports, including IBM MQSeries, MSMQ and any JMS-compliant message queue as well as HTTP/HTTPS, FTP and TCP for integration.
