Free Utility Supports Distributed Capture

Extending distributed capture to anyone with a digital copier or multifunction machine, Kofax (www.kofax.com), Irvine, CA, has released Ricochet Coversheet, a free document capture utility for Ascent Capture software. The software provides a simple Web-based form tool that can be hosted on a corporate intranet. The coversheets that result coordinate capture with Ascent Capture software and related workflows.

Once Ricochet Coversheet software is accessed online, users choose from a list of administrator-defined document packages (such as loan applications), enter the required index values, print a document cover sheet and, finally, scan and send the cover sheet and documents images to a central Ascent Capture system. The cover sheet contains two barcodes that allow Ascent Capture to auto import the images and retrieve an XML file containing the index information and instructions for processing and release to workflows or archives.

Ricochet Coversheet requires versions 5.0 or later of Ascent Capture, Microsoft IIS Server and Microsoft Internet Explorer. Users do not need Ascent Capture software or licensing keys. The software can be downloaded at no charge at www.kofax.com.
