Integration and Collaboration Boost XML Authoring Tool
Toronto-based SoftQuad Software (www.softquad.com)
has announced XMetal 3, an update of the
company's XML authoring software that adds collaboration capabilities for content authors and
support for W3C-standard schemas. XML schemas define common languages for business applications and
enable companies to exchange information seamlessly.
XMetal 3's new content creation and collaboration tools include versioning, document previews,
integration with Microsoft Office, support for document sharing via WebDAV and integration with
content management systems from companies including Documentum and Interwoven. XMetal 3 also
includes a new forms toolkit that provides common features such as radio buttons and check boxes.
These features are mapped to XML elements and a Java API for integrating XMetal to integrate with
Java-based applications.
XMetal 3 will be available in January 2002 for $495 per user.
