UK Agency Finds a Fast Lane with Semio

The Highways Agency in London, has chosen Semio (www.semio.com), San Mateo, CA, to help build its new "Anywhere Office" intranet. The Highways Agency is one of the largest government agencies in Great Britain, with responsibility for managing England's network of trunk roads and motorways.

The Highways Agency intranet is designed to allow employees single-point access to a wide range of business applications and documents. SemioTagger will index and categorize documents sourced from the Highways Agency's existing Web sites as well as the Web sites of the Department of Transport and other roads-related entities. Semio will sort the concepts pulled from these documents into navigable topic hierarchies, which will enable Highways Agency employees to quickly find specific information. These categories will automatically feed into the agency's Plumtree Corporate Portal, which will be used as the framework for the Highways Agency's portal initiative.
