Semio Crawls and Indexes Plumtree Portal
Semio (www.semio.com), the San Mateo, CA,
maker of taxonomy software, announced new versions of
SemioTagger categorization engine and the Semio Plumtree Integration Module. The SemioTagger engine
extracts concepts from unstructured data in multiple formats from which it builds taxonomies and
custom content categories. The indexed data can then be used to facilitate searches within a portal
or content management system. Version 4.2 included support for Oracle databases, extending
compatibility to most major databases on both Windows and Unix platforms.
The new version of the Semio Plumtree Integration Module adds crawl-time indexing, relevance ranking
and multiple taxonomy support. Crawl-time indexing tags documents as they are crawled by Plumtree,
ensuring continuous document categorization. Multiple taxonomy support lets users categorize a
single repository with separate taxonomies. These multiple taxonomies can be displayed in a Plumtree
portal.
