Lotus (www.lotus.com), Cambridge, MA, in late October announced the availability of Lotus Discovery Server v1.1. The update includes an improved developer's toolkit permitting the integration of Lotus Discovery Server with nonLotus applications.

Lotus Discovery Server, which will be available as a stand-alone product, is designed to extract and categorize structured and unstructured information to reveal the relationships between the content, people, topics and user activity in an organization. It automatically generates and maintains a searchable hierarchical index known as a Knowledge Map. The server also generates and maintains user profiles and tracks relevant end-user activities, identifying individuals who may be subject matter experts on searched topics.
