Premera Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Spokane, WA, has selected the ClaimPack
software from Captiva (www.captivasoftware.com)
San Diego, CA, to speed its
medical claims processing.
Premera currently processes HCFA claims at multiple locations throughout
Oregon and Washington, but the company plans to use Captiva's ClaimPack
software to centralize processing at one location. The claim forms will
now be scanned and the data captured with ClaimPack's battery of OCR,
IRC, mark sense and barcode recognition technologies. The system is
expected to reduce manual processing, speed overall processing and
reduce key entry errors.
The multiphased implementation will begin with a storage and retrieval
system integrated with Premera's six legacy systems. Captiva will
provide imaging and data capture capabilities with FileNet providing the
back-end document management system. The integrated image, data capture
and workflow solution is expected to process more than 55,000 claims per
day.
