Irvine, CA-based Kofax (www.kofax.com) in July announced the integration of its Ascent Capture 5.0
information capture software with Microsoft's SharePoint Portal Server. SharePoint integrates with Microsoft Office
and Windows, bringing document management, search, subscription and online discussion functionality to
content-dependent processes.
Ascent captures and indexes scanned images and electronic documents such as email, Microsoft Office
Files, photos and Web forms, and makes them available for workflow transaction processing and customer
support. Ascent has historically exported to back-end systems ranging from FileNet to IMR Alchemy. The
integration with SharePoint Portal Server allows content captured through Ascent - either locally or remotely
through the Internet - to be added to SharePoint libraries.
