Solid knowledge management may have helped British Prime Minister Tony Blair lead his party to its recent landslide victory. The Labour Party relied on RetrievalWare search and retrieval software from Convera (www.convera.com), Vienna, VA, during the country's general election.
The Labour Party has been using RetrievalWare since 1995 for indexing and searching across a variety of information sources such as speeches, press releases and transcripts from Parliament. The Party upgraded its deployment of the software before the campaign to integrate real-time Internet searches with searches from its existing repositories.
When an opposing political party challenges Labour Party policy statements or misleadingly represents the Party's views, an "Attack and Rapid Rebuttal" team is able to search across its database and track what the opposition has said, assess the factual accuracy of these statements and then prepare an effective response. This information can also be searched to prepare attacks against any inaccuracy or inconsistency existing in opposition policy or comment.
