Nuance (www.nuance.com), Menlo Park, CA, has released Nuance Vocalizer, software that converts text to a human-sounding voice (either male or female). Nuance Vocalizer can read email and support voice-automated dialing and unified messaging over the telephone. It delivers text-to-speech output to 150 callers from a single server.
Vocalizer ships in several languages, including English, Dutch, French, Italian, German, Norwegian, Spanish and Swedish. The software is designed to work with the Nuance 7.0 speech recognition engine and Verifier 2.0 voice authentication software.
The Vocalizer is currently available for Windows NT and Windows 2000. Unix support is expected to be available later this year.
