Content-Driven E-Commerce Suite

Vignette (www.vignette.com), Austin, TX, in June released Merchant Suite, a packaged application said to combine content, integration and analysis technology with the robust transaction processing capabilities of leading application servers.

Developed in conjunction with PricewaterhouseCoopers, Vignette Merchant Suite is intended to help companies deliver superior, multichannel-purchasing experiences. Vignette bills it as "the first packaged business application that combines content management and transaction processing as core capabilities." The Suite is said to deliver the right information at the right time to customers and prospects.

Merchant Suite combines catalog management, merchandising management, customer analysis and targeting, out-of-the-box sample storefronts and collaborative enterprise integration. While conventional e-commerce covers basics, including order capture, shopping cart management and checkout processing, the Vignette suite puts content-centric marketing, sales and service processes at the heart of the online commerce solution. The software supports industry standards including J2EE, XML and LDAP for open connectivity and integration.
