Input Software will show off two capture solutions at AIIM. InputAccel 2.2 is the latest upgrade of the companyýs flagship client/server software. It converts paper, fax, microfiche and electronic documents into electronic format(s) that can be read, stored and retrieved by a variety of storage and retrieval systems. It lets you capture information from letters, invoices, checks, orders, forms and resumes received at remote sites and then transfer cleaned, compressed images or data over a LAN or WAN to a central processing center. It handles from 500 pages to a million or more pages per day with security.
For those with more basic needs, Input Software (San Jose, CA, 408-325-3800) has introduced InputAccel EZ 2.2 for on-demand and low-volume production scanning. Like its big sister, InputAccel, EZ captures pages through scanning or importing, indexes documents during scanning, enhances image quality and readability, detects and decodes barcodes, creates PDF and Word 6.0 files and exports files and index information to a local or network directory. It also shares InputAccelýs easy-to-use Point.Click.Scan interface. EZ handles up to 1,500 pages per day. Prices start at $8,998.

Eastman Software COLD/ERM Version 3.1 extends user capabilities and integration possibilities with ýbookmarks.ý You can include bookmarked subsets in work items available through Eastman Software Workflow; you can mail bookmarks to other COLD users or save bookmark files in Exchange folders for common access. Typical bookmarked subsets may include customer-specific invoices, financial statements, or insurance policies.
COLD Connector for the Web is a new option from Eastman Software (Billerica, MA, 978-313-7000); it provides browser-based client access to COLD records. This component also takes advantage of bookmarks, giving customers direct access to their enterprise reports.
COLD 3.1 can record more than one million pages per hour, and it operates in both NT and Unix environments. The open solution can be customized to meet the needs of multiple departments.

By storing emails and electronic documents in MS-Exchange-based libraries accessible via ByteQuery, the solution eliminates the tedious task of extracting emails and attachments from Exchange and filing them into a document manager. It also integrates the knowledge map (documents/folders) with MS Outlook, workflow and business applications. Prices start at $300 per named user.

Image-X offers a 32-bit document solution with an emphasis on affordability. The base Vault Edition is an easy-to-install scan, store and retrieve solution. By taking advantage of existing networks, NT servers and desktop PCs, a ten-user Image Vault Edition can be implemented for less than $500 per month, including client applications, custom image index, and one 20-25 ppm scanner.
Other systems from Image-X (Santa Barbara, CA, 805-964-3535) include Co-Opstor/COLD, which allows you to integrate computer output, images and workflow. ImageFlow is a workflow system for ad-hoc or rules-based routing across multiple LANs, WANs and the Web.
Image-Xýs Secured-e-Billing software lets you securely submit and accept payment of paperless invoices using existing Web technology. Image Enabled e-Filing software lets you download filings along with their index pages, and you can send back electronically stamped PDF files, word processing, spreadsheet files, etc.

The 2000D FB is a top-of-the-line flatbed scanner that delivers 86 images per minute (55 ppm) with full duplex scanning. You can scan up to 11ý-by-17ý with features including a 150-sheet feeder, impact-style post-scan endorser, ISIS and TWAIN drivers and a SCSI interface for easy connectivity. The scanner captures single-pass duplex at 400 dpi. Options include an 800-dpi upgrade as well as image processing and data compression units. List price is $7,695.
Bell & Howellýs Copiscan 8100 is a 100-ppm production scanner with high-end features including a front-page pre-scan imprinter; ultrasonic multi-feed detection system for standard and mixed batch applications; on-demand, multiple-color dropout; and manual feed capabilities. This rugged unit can scan round the clock with a mean time between failure rating of 5,000 hours. The Copiscan 8100S (simplex model) costs $27,995 while the 8100D (duplex model) is $31,995.
