Current Native Storage Capacity: 12 gigabytes (DDS-3) Throughput: 1-1.5 Mbytes per second
Upgrade Path: DDS-4 expected by 1Q 1999 with a capacity of 20 gigabytes and speed between 2 and 3 megabytes per second. DDS-5 expected in 2001 with 40 gigabyte capacity. Distinguishing Feature: The most widely sold tape technology offers complete backward compatibility.
