Current Native Storage Capacity: 35 gigabytes Throughput: 3 megabytes per second
Upgrade Path: AIT-2 with a native capacity of 50 gigabytes due 1Q, 1999. Tape capacity expected to double every two years, road map determined for next 4 to 5 years. Distinguishing Feature: Memory-in-cartridge (MIC) stores directory and tape history to speed access and save on tape and drive wear and tear.
