Ten Ways COLD Saves Time and Money

  1. It lets many people see the same document at the same time. There's no paper chase after a single document. Anybody can print, fax and email anything stored in COLD.

  2. It brings large volumes of archived data directly to the desktop in seconds. This lets users process information requests faster, more easily and at lower cost than through such traditional storage methods as paper or microfiche.

  3. It automates the cross-reference indexing and distribution of electronic documents. This saves the labor of manually indexing and linking documents to reports.

  4. It eliminates time wasted searching for misfiled documents. No more lost and forgotten files.

  5. It costs less to put data on optical discs than to keep it in a mainframe's magnetic storage. Yet optical discs offer access to information almost as quickly.

  6. Form overlays that most COLD systems offer give customer service representatives a visual image that looks like the paper in the customer's hands. COLD lets CSRs pull up invoices and reports quickly and help the customer on the first call.

  7. Electronic reports stored in COLD are cheaper to handle than those stored on paper or microfilm. They take up less storage space.

  8. COLD lets you create new reports out of old data. Reuse and tap knowledge you might not otherwise have available.

  9. It lets you search for information by page, by line or by word. This flexibility lets you find files without knowing much about them.

  10. It gives you an archive of your mainframe data with a longer shelf life than paper. It prevents copy quality from degrading the way paper and microfilm do.
