Imaging Does Comdex

Imaging is catching on all over the place. Vendors you read about in every issue of Imaging Magazine will be at Comdex. Here are some of the companies you won't want to miss in Las Vegas.

Comdex Fall is the world's biggest computer show. This year it takes place November 17-21. We'll be at Comdex watching imaging appear in booths all over the show floor. You'll see our magazines all over the place.

Digi-Data Booth L2237

Digi-Data (Jessup, MD 301-498-0200) will introduce the Z-9200 RAID controller. This is the first RAID 3 controller that's Wide Ultra2. Transfer data at 80 MB/sec in a RAID 3 application. Safely store, retrieve and access high-end digital image files. It has an enhanced front panel design with a new vacuum fluorescent display (VFD). Increase cache to 256 MB and add 15 tiers of disks to deliver more capacity.

Fargo Electronics Booth S4577

Fargo (Eden Prairie, MN 612-941-9470) will showcase its new high-speed, professional-quality thermal and dye-sublimation color printer, the PrimeraPro Elite. Fargo will also display its award-winning FotoFUN! Digital Color Photo printer and its line of color photo ID cards and CD-R printers.

Hansol Multitech Booth M1644

Hansol Multitech (La Palma, CA 714-562-5151) will show its broad line of high-resolution color monitors and unveil a 19" monitor. Award winning products include 17", 15" and 14" monitors for the CAD/CAM/CAE, desktop publishing, medical, high-end education and Fortune 1000 users.

JVC Booth L172

JVC Professional Computer Products (Cypress, CA 714-816-6500) will exhibit the latest in high capacity CD-ROM storage and Access with its 200 and 600 disc CD-ROM Library storage systems. The VIPSLAN-10 is the industry's first completely Ethernet compatible 10 MBPS Infra-red Wireless LAN Solution. The JVC Professional Company will exhibit its new projector technology and Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) video and data projector achieving the best balance between high brightness, high resolution and compact size.

Maxell Booth L2248

Maxell (Fair Lawn, NJ 201-794-5000) will showcase its complete line of computer storage media products. Key products include:

  • New branded CD-R product line.

  • High capacity SuperDisk (120 Megabyte) diskettes.

  • DDS-3 data cartridge (HS-4/125) with a storage capacity of 12 GB (24 Gigabyte compressed).

  • World's first rewritable 2.6 GB and 5.2 GB DVD-RAM discs.

    MegaDrive Systems FCLC Suite N250/Las Vegas Convention Center

    MegaDrive (Chatsworth, CA 818-700-7600) will showcase the world-class Digital Media Fibre Channel storage solutions, including the high-performance, massively scalable EV-1000 RAID System and the high-speed ARIA RAID Disk Array. Products will be connected by Fibre Channel to state-of-the-art digital media systems demonstrating interoperability. MegaDrive offers high-speed desktop solutions to massive Fibre RAID workgroup and machine room installations.

    Micro Design International Booth L5252

    MDI (Winter Park, FL 407-677-8333) will premiere several new CD-ROM and optical storage solutions. They'll show a new release of SCSI Express software for Windows NT that's designed for advanced CD-ROM jukebox and writable optical jukebox management.

    See a variety of CD-ROM solutions including 24X MultiRead CD-ROM towers and cabinets, a modular CD-ROM jukebox and new LAN Connect CD-ROM towers. Stop by and checkout two new additions to the MDI product line focusing on improving CD-ROM performance and simplifying CD duplication.

    Mitsui Advanced Media

    Booth S7638

    Mitsui Gold CD-R is a phthalocyanine-based multispeed disc with a lifetime warranty. Mitsui Gold has a Data Shield Surface to protect the media against harsh treatment. The discs are manufactured at their new Colorado Springs plant.

    This gives MTC (Purchase, NY 914-253-0777) control over the raw materials in their CD-R media, including the patented dye. The company will also show at Comdex their Trans/Corder, a 50 disc duplicating system. It's available in several different models.

    NETpresenter Microsoft Pavillion Booth H.06

    NETpresenter (San Jose, CA 408-490-2857) will show version 3.0 of their product with the same name.

    NETpresenter is the first "push product" that works in both client/server and Internet/intranet environments. It doesn't need to work with an internet Web server program. Setting up information channels is a breeze.

    Pioneer New Media

    Technologies Booth M1628

    For a first-hand look at DVD in today's applications, the Pioneer (Long Beach, CA 310-835-6177) booth is a "must-see." Pioneer has released a complete family of DVD and CD-ROM products.

    The family includes new DVD-Recordable technology, advanced DVD-ROM and CD-ROM drive technology, DVD authoring tools, DVD-ROM, CD-ROM mass storage solutions and changers, CD-R and DVD-R media manufacturing and powerful audio-visual displays including the latest in plasma technology.

    Procom Booth 4852

    Procom's (Irvine, CA 714-852-1000) NetFORCE CD-10 is a leading cost/performance networking system with 10 CDs. It offers a 12ms average seek time. It attaches to your network attachable for a platform transparent architecture.

    Procom's 28-bay network-attached solution, CD/DVD FORCE, offers cross-platform compatibility for up to 140 CDs or 28 DVDs. It holds four seven-bay modules for either CD-ROM, HyperCD-ROM, CD Changer or DVD-ROM drives. CD FORCE 2.0 embedded software gives administrators flexibility when it comes to distributing CD-ROM- or DVD-based data.

    Qualstar Booth H2101

    Qualstar (Canoga Park, CA 818-592-0061) will show its TLS-6000 Series of DLT tape libraries.

    These tape libraries range in capacity from 200 gigabytes to more than four terabytes. The TLS-6000 Series can all be managed by tape storage software products from Cheyenne, Seagate, IBM ADSM and Legato Systems.

    Qualstar will also display libraries that use AIT, DLT, DDS-2, DDS-3 and 8mm technology. All of Qualstar's tape libraries share a common interface, mechanics and electronics.

    Samsung Booth L1647

    Samsung (Ridgefield Park, NJ 201-229-4000) will introduce two exciting additions to its award-winning monitor line. The ultra-slim SyncMaster 400TFT, the company's first flat-panel monitor, and the SyncMaster 1000p, the 21" addition to the high-end line of professional "p" Series monitors. Samsung's 1000p monitor is designed to meet the demands of high-end graphics, CAD/CAM and desktop publishing applications. Upgraded features include an ultra fine .25mm dot pitch, TCO 95 implementation, advanced DDC 2B+ level Plug & Play and a redesigned one-button "Display Director" On-Screen Display system with additional user controls for easy screen adjustments.

    Seagate Golden Nugget

    Seagate Technology (Costa Mesa, CA 714-641-1230) will be showing a line of Travan NS tape drives that achieve 8 GB of capacity with compression. The Scorpion 96, a DDS-3 DAT autoloader with up to 96 GB of hands-free backup for network servers and workstations will also be on display. See the Seagate Sidewinder 50, an AIT tape drive that uses the AME media with the MIC feature for faster access to data.

    Tracer Technologies

    Booth S7149

    Tracer Technologies (Gaithersburg, MD 301-721-2800) will introduce HyperROM for Windows NT. It supports CD-ROM and CD-Recordable jukeboxes on NT 3.5 and 4.0. They'll also show TapeFS, a revolutionary DLT tape jukebox management product that brings online, random access tape file systems to Sun Solaris platforms.

    Yamaha Systems Technology

    Booth M644

    Yamaha (San Jose, CA 408-467-2300) will be introducing three new CD-Rewritable models -- CRW-40815, CRW-4260 and CRW-2260. They are all multifunction and rewritable drives. Stop by and see this evolving CD technology.
